The main event: the long Tran Phu boulevard running south from Yersin Street past the Sailing Club down towards the Vinpearl cable-car end, lined with the city's biggest towers - Sheraton, InterContinental, Havana, Novotel, Muong Thanh Luxury, Citadines. The six-lane road always sits between the hotels and the sand, so the beach is a crossing away rather than a doorstep, but the public beach here is wide, clean and free, with municipal sun-loungers and a landscaped park strip. Best for first-time visitors and anyone who wants the sea view, the promenade and walkable restaurants without being in the middle of the bar noise.

Vinpearl's island opposite the city, reached by the 3.3 km cable car or a boat. Self-contained resort territory - theme park, water park, golf, aquarium - where you are meant to stay put. Excellent for families with young children, restrictive for anyone who wants to explore Nha Trang itself.

Which Nha Trang hotels are actually on the beach?
Very few in the city, because the six-lane Tran Phu boulevard runs between the hotels and the sand. 5 properties in this guide have no road in the way, and most of those are on the islands or north of the city.
Is it worth staying on Hon Tre island?
If VinWonders is the point of the trip, or you want a resort with a private beach, yes. If you want the city's restaurants and nightlife, no: every evening out means a boat or a cable car.
