Nha Trang Railway Station

Quick answer

The city's mainline station at 17 Thai Nguyen in the former Phuoc Tan ward, about 1.5 km inland from the beach and a few hundred metres from both the cathedral and Long Son Pagoda. It sits on the North-South (Reunification) line, which runs six services a day in each direction between Hanoi and Saigon taking 31-35 hours end to end; from Saigon alone six trains - SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, SE22 and SNT2 - serve Nha Trang daily on a 7.5 to 8 hour run. The national timetable in force was updated on 15 May 2026.

Why go

  • The overnight soft-sleeper from Saigon is the most comfortable way into Nha Trang and drops you in the middle of town
  • A working French-era station with an unusual loop layout, worth a look in itself
  • Walking distance from the cathedral and Long Son Pagoda
  • Far cheaper than flying for the Saigon and Da Nang runs

How to get there

17 Thai Nguyen, about 1.5 km west of the beach; a minimum-fare Grab or a 20-minute walk from the central hotels.

Tips

  • Book sleeper berths several days ahead in summer and around Vietnamese holidays - the Saigon overnight trains sell out
  • Lower berths cost more than upper ones and are worth it on an eight-hour run
  • At least one widely repeated listing gives the station as '19 km from the centre' - that is wrong; it is about 1.5 km
  • The taxi rank outside is a known spot for meter games; book a Grab from inside the hall instead
